With more than 20 years of hands-on experience, Yates Carpentry & Construction is a proudly locally owned business based in Whakatāne and servicing the wider district. Led by owner Alex Yates, we’re known for our practical approach, quality workmanship and solid reputation across both rural and residential construction.

From new builds and renovations to cowshed construction and light commercial work, we work closely with clients to deliver reliable results, on time, on budget, and with no surprises. From building new spaces to updating existing ones, we bring the same commitment to every project.

Alex Yates grew up in the Eastern Bay and has strong ties to the region. After completing his trade locally, and spending several years gaining experience across a wide range of projects, he started Yates Carpentry & Construction to provide a building service based on trust, skill, and straightforward communication. Clients come from both within the district and beyond, but the focus stays the same: quality workmanship and getting the job done right.
